Cherry Shrimp are one of the best freshwater shrimp species for beginners. Hardy, colourful, and easy to breed, they thrive in low-tech tanks and are perfect for nano aquariums, aquascapes, and planted shrimp colonies.

These shrimp are low- to mid-grade culls from higher-grade lines. While they may not all be deep red, they are healthy, active breeders that will produce bright red offspring.

FAQ – Cherry Shrimp Care

Q: How many do I need to start a colony?
A: 10 shrimp is a great starting number for a thriving colony.

Q: Will my fish eat my shrimp?
A: If it fits in a fish’s mouth — it’s food. Keep Cherry Shrimp with peaceful, small fish or in a dedicated shrimp tank.

Q: I found a white skeleton in the tank. Is my shrimp dead?
A: That’s just a moult — a sign your shrimp is growing. Leave it in the tank as it provides minerals and nutrition for your shrimp.

Q: Do I need a filter?
A: No, but a sponge filter or gentle flow helps keep water clean and oxygenated. You can keep shrimp in bowls or jars if the water is well-maintained.

DOA Policy – Dead on Arrival

  • You must provide clear photo or video of the shrimp in the UNOPENED bag.

  • Refund applies to shrimp only, not postage.

  • No refund can be issued once the bag is opened.

How to Acclimate Your Shrimp (Important)

  1. Float the UNOPENED bag in your tank for 10 minutes to equalize temperature.

  2. Cut open the bag, pour contents through a net (don’t add bag water to your tank).

  3. Gently add shrimp to your aquarium.

Why no bag water?
Stressed shrimp release hormones and potential pathogens into the water. Avoid transferring this into your tank, even if it’s a quarantine system.
