This lily will be shipped bare rooted so having a suitable sized pot ready is essential. 

Water lilies will grow in most pond conditions but it is important to know they are full sun plants requiring at least 5 hours of direct sunlight and they are heavy root feeders requiring regular feeding with appropriate root tab fertiliser every 3-6 months and repotting once a year (trim the excess roots and replace the soil). Some species will go dormant during the winter particularly in colder areas but should reshoot in the spring and summer. 

Unless you are using hydroponic grow lights with an open top aquarium it is unlikely that you will have success growing them in aquarium conditions.

Plant the water lily in a pot with the cheapest potting mix from Bunnings add an aquarium safe root fertiliser tablet and cap off the soil with sand or pebbles about 4cm thick to prevent potting mix floating out of the pot. If you have large goldfish or koi add some larger stones on top of the the sand or pebbles to stop them digging and up rooting the lilies (because they will).
